Tier I Masters Degree in Educational Leadership
The Master’s program in Educational Leadership prepares candidates for entry leadership positions that include P-12 school level positions below the principal and district level positions that do not supervise principals. This preparation leads to a Master’s in Educational Leadership and a Standard Professional Tier I certificate in the state of Georgia.
The program includes:
A set of academic and clinical experiences, including 33 semester hours of course work and 250 clock hours of field and clinical work. Observations must be made at the elementary, middle
and high school levels.
Development of a high level of knowledge, skills, and dispositions cooperatively planned
and designed with a mentor and coach during the course of the program.
Opportunities for candidates to observe and participate in genuine leadership activities
that will assist them in providing curriculum and instructional leadership in P-12
settings that will positively impact teaching and learning.

Individuals who have earned certification at the master’s level in an area other than educational leadership, may add leadership to their certificate by completing 18 semester hours of course work and 250 clock hours of field and clinical experiences.

- Three letters of recommendation with one from immediate supervisor
- Minimum three years of teaching experience
- Initial educator certification
- Evidence of having taken GACE Ethics Entrance Exam
