RE: Summer Online Instruction
DATE: April 2, 2020
After a decision made by the University System of Georgia (USG), Albany State University along with the other 25 USG institutions will continue to deliver online and remote instruction during May and summer semesters, with only limited exceptions.
Currently, USG institutions overall have remained open, with only minimal staff physically on-site to ensure continuity of essential services.
According to USG Chancellor Steve Wrigley, all institutions will return to in-classroom instruction for fall semester, assuming health conditions permit.
In the interim, all institutions have been asked to continue their current telework and flexible work strategies for faculty and staff. In preparation for fall semester, faculty and staff will be able to return to campus prior to the beginning of fall semester. The exact date of the return to campus will be published at a later date.
As always, we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, faculty and staff as we do our part to help stem the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Georgia. We will continue with our mission to graduate our students in these challenging times. I am in regular contact with our Student Government Association leadership and want to ensure we maintain transparency during these times.
As I previously communicated, the ASU leadership team is working to develop ways to meaningfully recognize our spring 2020 graduates.
Student, faculty, staff and parent resources are continually being updated and can be found on the ASU Coronavirus Updates and Resources webpage.
It is critical that you check your ASU email, ASU social media platforms and the ASU website regularly for important updates, including upcoming information regarding fall 2020 registration, advising and more.
