Program Goals
“Respiratory Care” means the rendering of services to patients with deficiencies or abnormalities which affect the pulmonary and cardiac systems, and which services involve therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, education, or care of such patients with regard to such deficiencies or abnormalities. The Albany State University Respiratory Care Program prepares students to perform as Advanced Practitioners as evidenced by passing the National Board for Respiratory Care Advanced Practitioner (RRT) examination. Graduates of the Respiratory Care Program receive training in the following content areas that make up the NBRC advanced practitioner examination curriculum content matrix.
- To prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists.
