What motivated you to learn more about your field?
My summer jobs in high school consisted of me working with children. This motivated
me to pursue a degree in education.
Why did you choose ASU?
Growing up, I visited Albany numerous times due to relatives living here. But after
attending Homecoming in 2015, I became interested in the university. Then I attended
open house my junior year and that’s when I knew this was the school I wanted to attend.
ASU has truly become my second home.
How did ASU prepare you to succeed after matriculation?
ASU prepared me to succeed by requiring education majors to complete field experience
hours. I have observed and worked with teachers in the Dougherty County School System
since my freshman year. This has helped me tremendously because I know what to expect
in the classroom.
What do you love most about your chosen profession?
I love how students faces light up when they have learned something new and seeing
their enjoyment for learning.
Who at ASU has made the biggest impact on you and who do you consider to be a role
model at ASU?
My professors in the school of education have made a big impact on me. They have pushed
and supported me so that I could become a great educator. We are a tight knit family
in the School of Education.
What advice would you give to other ASU students?
Remain focused, be responsible for your own learning, and enjoy your undergraduate
experience.
What advice would you give to high school students who are preparing to enter ASU?
Build relationships with your professors and your peers in your major. Become active
in organizations on campus and take advantage of the resources the university provides.
