Albany State University Increases Summer Enrollment for Fourth Consecutive Year
Albany State University (ASU) has again achieved remarkable success, by increasing summer enrollment for the fourth consecutive year. This upward trend in enrollment reflects the strong community support and the excellent reputation that Albany State University has built over the years.
“This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the faculty and staff. The growing number of students choosing Albany State University for their summer studies clearly indicates the quality education and vibrant campus life we offer. We are proud to see more students taking advantage of the exciting opportunities available during the summer semester,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management, Kenyatta Johnson.
ASU realized an increase of 7.1% compared to Summer 2023. A notable highlight is the 46% rise in graduate enrollment from summer 2021 to now.
There are 83 dual-enrolled students enrolled for the summer, along with 100 first-time freshmen. 83 of the first-time freshmen are participating in Summer Success Academy. The program has seen a 17% increase, including a 7.7% increase in male enrollment, over the previous year. The Summer Success Academy is a 6-week residential comprehensive program designed to help incoming freshmen gain a head start on their education as they prepare to bridge the gap between high school and college. By the end of the summer, participants will have completed seven to nine credit hours.
Dr. Kimberly Burgess, Executive Director of Student Success, said, “We are proud of our vibrant summer living-learning community that prepares students for the upcoming challenges of the first year. They make great peer connections, meet key administrators, and learn to be leaders.”
Additionally, there are 134 student-athletes enrolled. This year, we are proud to share that a significant number of student-athletes have enrolled, further enriching our vibrant campus community. Enrolling for the summer facilitates a smoother transition and ensures that students remain actively engaged in their academic pursuits.
Enrollment for fall 2024 is trending positive. The fall semester begins on August 19.
