ALBANY, Ga -- The Albany State University National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) received a service award for their commitment and assistance in improving the visual appearance of the community.

The award was presented, Thursday, Jan. 11, by Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and Dougherty County Commission Chairman Chris Cohilas at the Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful annual awards luncheon.

Nearly two years ago, ASU NPHC committed to the Adopt-a-Block campaign by cleaning and maintaining the area near the corner of N Broadway Street and E Broad Avenue. The initiative eventually expanded nearly a mile, ending at N Broadway Street and Clark Avenue. Approximately 60 students clean the area on Saturdays, twice a semester.
