Campus Message: Interim Presidency Announcement
Marion Fedrick
Dear Campus Community,
I am very honored to have been named interim president, effective Feb. 1, 2018, and I would like to share with you some thoughts as I take on my new role at Albany State University.
From day one, everyone here has made me feel welcomed. I want to thank the campus community for all your support and genuine enthusiasm for what ASU can become with all of us working closely together.
I would also like to express a profound appreciation to President Art Dunning for his leadership and guidance as we continue to transition and prepare for a new president. President Dunning has led the University during a pivotal time in its history and made significant progress through our consolidation. We will build on the momentum he began to position the University for long term success.
Students, alumni, faculty, staff and community leaders have eagerly and candidly shared their thoughts, concerns and ideas for ways the institution can grow and innovate. I am appreciative of this feedback, and the willingness I have seen from faculty and staff to be open to change that will benefit our students.
This commitment and dedication is what will move Albany State forward to better serve the local community and the Southwest region of our state.
At yesterday’s board meeting, University System of Georgia’s Chancellor, Steve Wrigley, recognized the good work and progress already being made. He also reinforced the University System’s commitment to the success of ASU.
We have had a strong start and I’m truly inspired by what the future holds.
Regards,
Marion
